Betsy Schnell Piano Award
The Betsy Schnell Piano Award is presented annually to piano students in Alachua County and contiguous counties. Winners receive a monetary prize, a plaque, and the opportunity to perform at the Awards Recital. There are two levels of competition for middle school and high school students. *Note that previous winners cannot compete at the same level a second time. Sarah Baird Fouse Woodwind Award
The Sarah Baird Fouse Woodwind Award is presented annually to outstanding high school woodwind players in grades 9th -12th in Alachua County or contiguous counties. William Dishman Brass Award
The William Dishman Brass Award is presented annually to outstanding high school brass players in grades 9th -12th in Alachua County or contiguous counties. Musician of the Year Award
The Musician of the Year award honors an adult in our community for long standing achievement and contributions to our musical environment. This award is presented annually and is voted upon by the FPM Board.
Gainesville Area Junior Festival
The Gainesville Area Junior Festival is a non-competitive event available to students of FPM teachers. This festival provides students with the opportunity to perform and receive an evaluation. Students will receive rating sheets and certificates, and are also eligible to participate in the optional Festival Cup Program. Students who receive superior ratings at the local Gainesville Area Junior Festival in February are eligible to compete at the Florida Federation of Music Clubs Junior Convention in May. Sonata/Sonatina Festival Competition
The Sonata/Sonatina Festival Competition is a competitive, adjudicated event available to students of FPM piano teachers. Students enter according to age and are required to perform one movement of a Sonata or Sonatina from any period and of any difficulty. The top performers in each age category will perform at the Stellar Student Recital.
